Petrophysics based Reservoir Evaluation of the Cretaceous Lower Goru “C” Sands, Middle Indus Basin, Sindh, Pakistan

چکیده
This study demonstrates the reservoir investigation of Cretaceous Lower Goru “C” sand interval using exploratory well data from middle Indus basin Sindh. The petrophysical parameters including volume shale, effective porosity, and water saturation investigated were calculated. shale calculation results in 30–35% non-clean (shale) lithology, which is high as compared to Sawan-01 Sawan-08 wells. porosity ranges 12–16%, while average value complete falls range 50–60%. However, certain zones with relatively lower values around 30-50% are also observed. These considered better pay comparison other intervals. A “gas effect” phenomenon observed on cross plots represents area neutron-density cross-over indicating presence lighter hydrocarbons this zone interval.

Optimum Strategies of Groundwater Pumping Regime under Scavanger Tubewells in Lower Indus Basin, Sindh, Pakistan
In general Pakistan is an agricultural country, most of its area including lower Indus basin (LIB) lies in arid and semi-arid zones, where irrigation by canal water and groundwater is only option. Due to continuous seepage from canal irrigation network and infiltration from irrigated lands; without adequate provision of natural and artificial drainage and its appropriate outlet, water-logging a...
متن کاملAn integrated petrophysical and rock physics analysis to improve reservoir characterization of Cretaceous sand intervals in Middle Indus Basin, Pakistan
The sand intervals of the Lower Goru Formation of the Cretaceous age, widely distributed in the Middle and Lower Indus Basin of Pakistan, are proven reservoirs. However, in the Sawan gas field of the Middle Indus Basin, these sandstone intervals are very deep and extremely heterogeneous in character, which makes it difficult to discriminate lithologies and fluid saturation. Based on petrophysic...
متن کاملEvaluation of Reservoir Properties Using Wireline Logs of Well Sarai-Sidhu-1, Punjab Platform, Central Indus Basin, Pakistan
The well Sarai Sidhu-01 is located on Punjab Platform, Central Indus Basin, Pakistan. Punjab Platform is the eastern part of Central Indus Basin, and tectonically it is the stable portion of Indus Basin, which was least affected during Tertiary Himalayan orogeny. This study attempts to decipher reservoir potential for hydrocarbon exploration. It aims to delineate a subsurface hydrocarbon bearin...
متن کاملGroundwater management for Lower Indus Basin
The present study aims to find out an optimum policy for pumping out the optimized volume of groundwater obtained from the authors' earlier Two Level Optimization Model [N.K. Garg, A. Ali, 1998. Two level optimization model for Lower Indus Basin. Agric. Water Manage. 36, 1±21] for the Dadu Canal Command of the Lower Indus Basin. It is shown that the tubewells in this canal command may be operat...
متن کاملApplication of Well Log Analysis to Assess the Petrophysical Parameters of the Early Eocene Sui Main Limestone (SML) in Kharnhak-1 Well, Middle Indus Basin, Pakistan
The petrophysical analysis of the early Eocene Sui Main Limestone (SML) has been conducted in Kharnhak-1 well for the prospect of the hydrocarbon exploration of the Khairpur-Jacobabad High, Middle Indus Basin, Pakistan. The petrophysical analysis of SML is carried out on the basis of well logs including gamma ray, spontaneous potential, resistivity, neutron, and density logs. These analyses lea...
